Light Townsend is the Chief Legal Officer of Green Point Research, a vertically integrated industrial hemp biomass originator and processor. At Green Point Research, he is responsible for overseeing all corporate legal affairs across its North and South American operations including litigation, intellectual property protections, government affairs, multi-jurisdictional compliance, and corporate governance. Prior to his legal career, Light was a management consultant overseeing business efficiency planning, management advisory, and reorganization projects for clients in the regulated industries of banking, insurance, and large law firms. Further, Light started a consulting company helping guide businesses through the claims process under the BP Deep Water Horizon Settlement recovering over $60,000,000 for his clients. Recently, Light published through the American Bar Association the book Modern Captive Insurance, detailing the formation and use of captive insurance companies.
Light earned a BS in International Business from Auburn University, a JD from Florida State University and an LLM in Taxation with Honors from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
